For Homeowners
How does BuildLocal NWIL work?
You submit a project request describing what you need and where you’re located. We share that request with local contractors in Northwest Illinois who serve your area. From there, the contractor will reach out to you directly.
Is there a cost for homeowners to use this service?
No. Getting matched with a contractor is completely free for homeowners.
How do I request a quote?
Click the “Get a Free Quote” button on any page, fill out the short form, and we’ll be in touch.
How long does it take to get matched?
We aim to respond within one business day.
Are the contractors vetted?
We ask contractors about their licensing and insurance during our follow-up process. We encourage all contractors in our network to carry appropriate coverage for their trade, but we do not independently verify credentials.
What if I’m not happy with the contractor?
Let us know. We take feedback seriously and use it to inform our contractor relationships going forward.
What areas do you serve?
We focus on Northwest Illinois — Carroll County and surrounding communities within about an hour of the area.
For Contractors
How do I join the network?
Fill out the contractor application on our Contractor Signup page. We’ll review it and follow up within one business day.
Is there a fee to join?
Yes, there is a fee — the structure (per lead, per job, or otherwise) is worked out individually based on your trade and volume. We’ll discuss it with you before anything is agreed.
What trades are you looking for?
Roofers, remodelers, concrete contractors, deck builders, painters, flooring installers, siding contractors, fencers, and general contractors.
Do I need to be licensed and insured?
We strongly encourage all contractors in our network to carry appropriate licensing and insurance for their trade. We’ll ask about this during our follow-up conversation.
How will I receive leads?
We’ll contact you directly when a homeowner in your area submits a request that matches your services.
Can I choose which jobs I take?
Yes. We make the introduction — you decide whether to move forward.
